Initiative taken by IIT Delhites on environment cleansing- Nano clean Marches Forward To Mass Production Of Nano-fibers!

Nanoclean, the Delhi-based start-up, stepped into the market holding hands of ‘Nasofilter’, in 2017. Nasofilter is basically a specialized version of nasal filter available at a dirt cheap rate of Rs. 10. After gradual modification through a B2B product called ‘Nasofilters Pollution Net’, it formed eco-friendly AC filters aiming to turn ACs into air purifiers at only Rs. 399. From an operational point of view, this AC filter overweighs the foreign commercial ones as it doesn’t cover the AC’s original filter enabling uninterrupted cooling. It is also capable of purifying a room by up to 90 percent all within an hour.

Conceived by joint brainstorming of IIT Delhi trio Prateek Sharma, Tushar Vyas, and Jatin Kewlani, Nanoclean took a significant step forward to bring a change in the air-purification scenario. Within a nick of time, it has bagged the Startup National Award conferred by the President of India, along with multiple grants from the Government of India, the Department of Science and Technology, followed by a recent joint-grant with IIT Delhi from the Ministry of Human Resource Development. It has also taken a foreign leap, capturing markets in 30 countries, accepting a financial support from the Govt. of South Korea to operate in Seoul along with occupying a space amongst the top 100 startups in the world listed by Hong Kong. With full confidence on the company’s smart business strategy, the co-founder narrates that the startup is all set to soar higher maintaining its low cost in India as it balances it out with different pricing in its ever growing International market. 

The fact that Nanoclean AC Filter is made to fit on ACs doesn’t limit its usage in summer. The startup has in store its winter plans too. Prateek reveals that the team is collaborating with the top three Indian AC makers to incorporate a dedicated air purifier button to continue operation even on fan mode! Another set of low-cost products is waiting to be shelved soon.

Nanoclean has made technology meet production. Even without any high-end equipment in India for mass manufacture, it has made use of electrospinning to serve the purpose. The nanofibre market being moderately fragmented, only a few like the Asahi Kasei Corp, Elmarcosro have managed to make a mark. The co-founder proudly announces that India is about to match shoulder with countries housing such brands with an array of machine designs waiting to get patents.

Nanoclean awaits funds to bring a ‘Nanofibre Production and Development Unit’ in Ahmedabad to fruition under a couple of years. A survey shows that the nanofibre market is supposed to witness a hike at CAGR of around 26% by 2024.
