WHY SCHOOLS AND TEACHERS CHOOSE THE WAY OF LEARNING USING DIGITAL MEDIUM TO EDUCATE MODERN-AGE KIDS

  • 19 Jan, 2020

Internet and digital devices have reached every nook and cranny in the 21st century. Thus, learning through digital medium makes the learning process faster and effective. And at the same time, students can get an idea on how they can find important sources of study materials in the digital age.

Nowadays, schools and teachers use various online portals designed by the school authorities. On such portals, teachers and students can communicate with each other and teachers can even upload study materials. Students can download those study materials according to their needs. At the same time, schools regularly upload syllabi, session details, exam schedules, class routines and holidays.

USING SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS

Social media channels are one of the best ways of communication in the digital world. Thus, a school authority should open their official accounts in various social media channels like Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp among others.

In the official Facebook or Twitter account, a school authority can make regular posts or tweets about syllabi, session’s details, exam schedules and holidays. However, generally, only a Facebook account is used to upload study materials occasionally. A Twitter account is used only to post tweets about important information and events.

DIGITAL LEARNING AND LEARNING TOOLS

Schools need to arrange desktops, laptops or notebooks for their students; they also need high-speed internet and LAN connection. They should use effective online learning tools to teach students. Learning tools like Duolingo, Lingvist, Bussu, Geogebra, Touch Counts, etc. are most popular. In a learning tool, separate accounts are created for each student. Students and their parents get a unique user ID and password. The students can undertake various educational works by signing in their individual accounts. Parents can access the accounts of their kids and can monitor their performances.

TYPES AND PATTERNS OF ONLINE LEARNING

Many schools upload E-books and online study materials in their portals so that students can download them. Teachers also guide students online.

Multi-cultural online classrooms are also available in the school portals so that students can get various study materials on their subjects from different educational environments. For example, when a student is studying RESPIRATORY SYSTEM of Biology online, then he/she can access the study materials of the US, Australia and the UK about the Respiratory System.

Various tools of social learning are also available in schools so that students can learn how to collaborate and create teams with others for their educational purposes. These tools also help students to create teams with juniors and seniors of their schools. This will be helpful for them to give and take various suggestions and recommendations.

Under the guidance of a teacher or mentor, students can create an online portal or an account in a social media channel like Facebook or WhatsApp, where they can post, share and discuss educational issues.

OTHER TOOLS

Various universities and schools nowadays are using evaluating tools to assess the answers of examinations. With the help of these tools, the evaluating process becomes error-free and fast. Similarly, many of these institutions also use grading tools to properly input the marks and grades of the students. These tools are also helpful in creating error-free marksheets.

There are various tools which help students to directly communicate with their teachers from their homes using web camera live videos. Skype is one such tool.
